For your consideration, we are offering for sale this 1949 Parker 51 Stainless Steel Flighter Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and now is in wonderful writing condition.
Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, hood/section, collector, and breather tube. Replaced the old glass-ply sac with a new sac. Hand polished the Gold Filled Clip, Cap Band, and 14K NIB. Polished the barrel and cap to bring back the bright brushed stainless finish.
This fountain pen barrel and cap are made from stainless steel. The cap is stamped with Parker. The barrel is stamped Made in U.S.A. with date code 9 for 1949.
The Aerometric Filling System works wonderfully; 5 to 6 presses and fills completely.
There are no monograms on the barrel or cap. This Parker 51 measures 5 3/8" in length capped and 6" posted. The 14K Parker NIB has a Medium point measuring roughly .64mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample the NIB writes with a fine line that varies from .55mm to .58mm when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Montblanc Blue Ink.
This vintage Parker 51 Flighter Aerometric Fountain Pen is a difficult fountain pen to acquire in this type of condition. I would consider this Parker to grade in Excellent Condition. It is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
