For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1951 Parker 51 Aerometric Fountain Pen in the Black Barrel Color and 1/10 12K Gold Filled Caps. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and it is now in fantastic writing condition.
I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, collector, breather tube, and hood. Replaced the old glass-ply sac with a new, properly sized one. Hand-cleaned the Cap & Arrow Clip, Clutch Ring, 14K Parker NIB, and the Aerometric Filling Body. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel and hood to bring back the vibrancy of the fountain pen and to protect the plastic. This Parker 51 is full size and measures 5 3/8" capped and 5 7/8" posted. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel.
This fountain pen cap, barrel, and hood are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The cap has the Feather Arrow Clip that displays no wear/brassing. The cap is 1/10 12K Gold Filled type with no denting with clusters of 5 lines that converge into one at the top of the cap. There are a couple of light scratches but nothing significant, I just like to point it out for clarity sake. The cap is clearly stamped with, "PARKER" on the lip of the cap. The barrel is stamped, "Made in U.S.A. with date code 51 (for 1951) in the 4th Quarter". I have tested the Aerometric filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The filling system, typically in my tests with water, will fill nearly full in roughly 4 to 5 presses.
The Parker NIB is 14K with a medium point. The actual writing portion (iridium) of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .65mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a smooth medium line. In the writing sample, the medium line ranges from .61mm to .69mm when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Montblanc Blue Ink. Again, this is a smooth writing nib.
Black with Gold Cap color Parker 51s are classy and sophisticated and this one is absolutely gorgeous with that Gold cap accentuating the black barrel. I would consider this Parker to be in Excellent Condition. It is certainly ready to write with or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
