This beautiful example is in Near Mint condition, has been professionally restored, and is now in wonderful working and writing condition. The combination of the exceptionally well-preserved Dusty Rose barrel and cap, Blue Diamond gold-filled trim, original 14K two-tone Parker “V” nib, excellent barrel transparency, and 1945 production date makes this a particularly attractive example for the Parker collector.

This fountain pen has been thoroughly restored and serviced from the inside out. The nib, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel were ultrasonically cleaned, the original diaphragm was replaced with a properly sized new diaphragm, and the gold-filled Blue Diamond clip, Chevron cap band, and 14K gold nib were carefully hand polished. The result is a fountain pen that not only presents beautifully but is ready for regular use.

The cap and barrel are in magnificent condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The cap secures firmly and properly to the barrel, and the Blue Diamond gold-filled clip remains exceptionally well preserved with no noticeable wear. The gold-filled Chevron cap band retains its rich original gold appearance and is likewise free of wear. The black top jewel is beautifully polished and presents with an excellent shine. There are no monograms or personalizations anywhere on the cap or barrel.

The barrel is clearly stamped “PARKER DUOFOLD MADE IN U.S.A.” and carries the Parker date code 5, indicating production in 1945, with the date-code positioning corresponding to the third quarter. One of the particularly impressive features of this example is the transparency of the barrel, which remains exceptionally clear and allows the interior of the pen to be easily viewed. The blind cap fits securely and properly. The fountain pen measures approximately 5 3/8 inches capped, 6 1/8 inches posted, and weighs .62 ounces giving it the substantial proportions expected of a Senior-size Parker.

The Vacumatic filling system has also been completely restored. A new diaphragm has been installed, and the filling unit was properly serviced and lubricated so that the mechanism operates smoothly. In my water testing, the pen typically reaches a full fill in approximately 8 to 10 presses, demonstrating that the restored filling system is functioning exceptionally well.

The fountain pen is fitted with its original two-tone 14K Parker “V” nib, which is in spectacular condition. The actual writing portion of the nib measures approximately .58mm at the tipping, as measured with digital calipers, placing it comfortably within the Fine range. In actual writing, the nib produces a smooth Fine-to-Medium line. The writing sample shown in the photographs was produced with this exact fountain pen after dipping the nib in Graf von Faber-Castell Cobalt Blue ink. With light pressure, the line measures approximately .56mm, while moderate to firm pressure allows the nib to open to approximately .86mm, producing an attractive Fine-to-Medium variation. It is a wonderfully smooth, expressive nib and a particularly fine complement to this outstanding Parker.

The Dusty Rose striped celluloid is especially attractive on this example, with the original coloration and striped pattern beautifully preserved. Combined with the gold-filled Chevron banding, Blue Diamond clip, black jewel, and two-tone Parker “V” nib, the overall appearance is unmistakably Parker and wonderfully representative of the company's high-quality production during the 1940s.

I would grade this Parker Senior Striped Duofold in Near Mint condition, with the important distinction that it has also been fully restored and is ready to write. Finding a Parker Blue Diamond Senior in the desirable Dusty Rose color is appealing in its own right; finding one with this level of preservation, excellent barrel transparency, original trim, an exceptionally clean 14K “V” nib, and a properly restored Vacumatic filling system is considerably more difficult.

For the collector of vintage Parker fountain pens, Vacumatics, Blue Diamond models, or beautifully preserved American writing instruments, this is an especially compelling example. It has the size and proportions of the Senior model, the unmistakable Dusty Rose striped celluloid, the iconic Blue Diamond clip, a superb original 14K “V” nib, and the functionality that comes from a careful restoration.

This is a Parker that can be appreciated from either side of the equation: as a collector-grade vintage fountain pen worthy of preservation, or as a beautifully restored writing instrument that can actually be enjoyed. With its exceptional condition, desirable Dusty Rose celluloid, original 1945 production markings, and smooth expressive nib, this Senior Parker Duofold would make a wonderful addition to a serious Parker collection or writing arsenal.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1862/4123/files/1945ParkerStripedSeniorDustyRoseDuofoldFountainPen1.jpg?v=1789254380
https://antiquedigger.com/en-ca/products/1945-parker-senior-dusty-rose-striped-duofold-blue-diamond-fountain-pen-restored-1
