This example has been fully restored and is now back in excellent writing condition.

The pen has been completely disassembled, ultrasonically cleaned, and fitted with a new latex sac. The nib, feed, and section have been thoroughly cleaned, while the cap and barrel have been carefully hand-cleaned and polished to revive the natural vibrancy of the celluloid while preserving its integrity. The gold-filled rocker clip, double cap bands, and 14K nib have all been hand polished, presenting with a bright, attractive finish. There is some minor oxidation visible along the edges of the clip, which is noted for accuracy but does not detract from the overall presentation.

The cap and barrel are in outstanding condition, free from cracks, chips, or repairs, and the cap threads securely to the barrel as it should. The celluloid is particularly striking, displaying vivid green tones with crisp reptilian patterning and bold red veining throughout. Importantly, there is no darkening or discoloration—something often seen with this material—making this example especially appealing. The barrel imprint, “THE ALL-AMERICAN PEN MADE IN U.S.A. A CONKLIN PRODUCT,” remains strong and clearly legible. There are no monograms or personalizations.

The lever-filling system has been restored with a new sac and has been tested to ensure smooth, reliable operation exactly as intended.

The pen is fitted with its original 14K All-American nib, which presents as a fine point measuring approximately .74mm with digital calipers. In use, the nib writes closer to a medium line around .72mm and is capable of expressive variation, flexing to approximately 1.43mm under firm pressure. It is smooth, responsive, and offers an engaging writing experience. The writing sample shown was completed with the actual pen offered here.

Measuring approximately 5 1/8 inches capped and 6 1/8 inches posted, the pen is well-balanced and comfortable in hand.

The Conklin All-American in this Lizard Skin pattern with red veining is among the more sought-after variations of the model, and clean examples are becoming increasingly difficult to find. With its strong color, crisp imprint, restored functionality, and attractive presentation, this pen firmly qualifies as a collector-grade example, grading in the Very Fine+ to Excellent range. The All-American Streamline Fountain Pen was first introduced in 1932, and sometime around 1936 the Reptilian celluloid pattern was in production and ended in 1938 ballpark.

A wonderful opportunity to acquire a standout example of a classic Conklin design—ready to write and equally at home in a serious collection.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1862/4123/files/1938ConklinGreenLizardSkinRedVeinFountainPen1.jpg?v=1777836311
https://antiquedigger.com/products/c1938-conklin-all-american-reptilian-foliage-red-vein-fountain-pen-restored
