1920S WATERMAN #52 RED RIPPLE FOUNTAIN PEN RARE MUSIC NIB RESTORED

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Gorgeous Restored 1920s Canadian Waterman #52 Red Ripple Hard Rubber Fountain Pen with Rare Canadian Waterman Music Nib. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap with mineral oil - the inside of the cap is very clean. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the outside of the cap and barrel. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new silicone sac. Hand polished the 18K Gold Filled Cap Banding, Gold Filled Waterman Clip, Gold Filled Lever Box Assembly along with the Waterman 14K #2 MUSIC NIB.

This fountain pen is made from hard rubber in the Red Ripple pattern. The coloring is gorgeous displaying deep red and black coloring. The lever box assembly is crisp and clean with "IDEAL" on the lever easily seen with the naked eye and no gold fill wear - there is a deep scratch in the middle of the lever arm and just point it out for clarity sake. The Waterman Ideal Clip displays just a touch of wear on the high point of the ball. The gold-filled cap banding is perfect with no wear. All 18K Gold Filled trim has been polished to shine brightly. This Waterman 52 barrel has an imprint at the center of the barrel that reads, "PATENTED AUG 9, 1906 WATERMAN'S IDEAL GLOBE LOGO FOUNTAIN PEN CANADA FEB. 9, 1909". The butt end of the fountain pen has a crisp number "52" imprint. The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. There are no monograms or personalization to either the cap or barrel. There are no cracks or repairs to the hard rubber. This Waterman #52 measures 5 3/8" in length capped and 6 5/8" posted.

The lever and box assembly has been cleaned and oiled. I have tested the lever filling systems with water and works flawlessly and as it was originally intended to.

This Waterman has a WATERMAN #2 Made in Canada Music Nib (3 tine nib). The iridium tipping is in excellent condition with the point measuring 1.23mm when measured with digital calipers - a double broad nib point. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with a Fine to Double broad stroke/line variation. The fine line measures roughly .50mm with light pressure on the horizontal strokes and the triple broad strokes measure at 2.25mm with light to normal pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink. NOTE: This Nib has been repaired at some point. The left breather hole has been welded and the left side edge of the nib has been silver soldered. On the left shoulder of the time is a tiny fissure. The does write well but does has the nib with conditions.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This antique Waterman #52 Red Ripple Hard Rubber Fountain Pen has a this extremely scarce Waterman Music Nib that collectors desire. I would consider the condition the body of the fountain pen to grade in Excellent condition - the nib may need more attention at some point but will write as is pretty well.
