Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1930s Gold Bond Fountain Pen in this beautiful Grey Pearl with Red Flakes Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and is now in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Replaced the old sac with a new, properly sized sac. Hand polished the Gold Filled Clip, Double Ring Cap Banding, and 14K Gold Bond NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the Celluloid. This Gold Bond measures 4 7/8" capped and 6 1/4" posted.

The fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the Gold Bond stamped clip. The clip displays a small bit of brassing on the high-point of the ball and at the very top of the clip, very minor and point it out for clarity sake. The 2-ring cap banding displays a wonderful rich gold filled color with no brassing. The barrel is stamped clearly with, "GOLD BOND". There are no monograms or personalization to either the cap or barrel. The celluloid on this fountain pen is vibrant and gorgeous - very even color throughout.

This Gold Bond has a lever filling mechanism and I have tested with water and fills as it should. Works as it is designed to.

The NIB is a Gold Bond 14K that writes with a wet, smooth line. The actual writing portion (iridium) of the 14K NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .64mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine to double broad stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the fine line measures at .54mm with light pressure and the double broad line measures at 1.64mm with medium to firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This vintage Gold Bond Fountain Pen is exceptional in the condition and color. I would consider this Gold Bond to grade in Excellent Condition. If you were looking to step into a Gold Bond Fountain Pen this would be a great candidate - a gorgeous looking and writing pen. It is collector grade quality and is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
