Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this  Restored Circa Late 1930s Gold Medal Fountain Pen in the Streamline Gray Striped celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and now is in wonderful writing condition.

The Gold Medal brand is a "sub-brand of the National Pen Products Co. The National Pen Products Co was a manufacturer of medium to high-grade fountain pens. An uncommon fountain pen style and this one really speaks volumes to the design, quality of material used, and exceptional condition it is in.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Hand-cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap. Cleaned, buffed, and polished the outside of the cap and barrel to bring back the vibrancy of the material and protect the celluloid. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new rubber sac. Hand polished the Gold Filled Cap Banding, Gold Filled Clip, Gold Filled Lever, along with the Gold Medal 14K NIB.

This fountain pen displays no chips, nicks, cracks, or repairs. The coloring is gorgeous displaying a consistent gray and black stripe color throughout - this is a very clean pen. The Gold Filled trim has been well cared for with no wear to the clip, cap banding, or lever arm. The barrel has the imprint at the center of the barrel that is a tad light but reads, "GOLD MEDAL PEN". The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. There are no monograms or personalization to either the cap or barrel. This Gold Medal Streamline Fountain Pen measures 5 3/8" in length capped and 6 3/8" posted.

The lever has been cleaned and greased to operate more smoothly. I have tested the lever filling systems with water and work flawlessly and as it was originally intended to.

This Gold Medal Fountain Pen has a 14K Nib that writes smoothly. The iridium tipping is in excellent condition with the point measuring .62mm when measured with digital calipers - a medium nib. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with a medium line measuring roughly .62mm and will flex to a broad line of 1.05mm with firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Namiki Black Ink.

This Art Deco style Gold Medal Streamline Fountain Pen displays a gorgeous design with lovely coloring. The condition of this fountain pen would grade Excellent. This style is very uncommon that collectors clamor for in the 2nd and 3rd tier models. It is in ready-to-write condition or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
