Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1935 OVERSIZED 1st Generation Parker Vacumatic Double Jewel Burgundy Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and now is in wonderful writing condition. The Largest pen from the 1st Generation, the Oversize has maximum dimensions similar to the later Senior Maxima, but its chunkier contour renders it of a larger look and feel. The Oversize gripping section is larger than the Senior Maxima.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Feather Gold Plated Split Arrow Clip, 3-Ring Cap Banding, 14K PARKER USA Nib, and Bottom Tassel. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the Barrel, Cap, and Blind Cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is an Oversize model which measures 5 3/8" capped and 6 1/4" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in great condition with no chips, cracks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the Feather Split Arrow Gold Filled Clip that displays no wear. The 3-Ring Cap Banding displays no wear and has a fabulous gold filled color. The top and bottle jewels are striped to match the cap, barrel, and section and have been polished to a high shine. The barrel is stamped cleanly with, " GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC MADE IN USA with date code 5 (for 1935) in the 2nd quarter ". The transparency on the barrel is remarkable, it is water clear!

The filling unit on this Parker is known as a "lockdown" filler. It is the proper filling unit for Parker 1st Generation Fountain Pens that were produced from 1932 to 1937. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Lockdown Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 12 to 14 presses to nearly full. I have greased the filling unit, so it operates smoothly.

This Oversize Parker Vacumatic has a 14K Two-Tone U.S.A. Parker Nib that also has a 1935 date code. The actual 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .83mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a medium stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the medium line measures between .61mm to .73mm under medium pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-black Ink.

This is one of those vintage Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pens you don't always get a chance to secure in your collection in the Burgundy Pearl Celluloid and 1st Generation Oversize. This Vac has all the "high-line" features; striped section, jewels, two-tone nib, water-clear barrel, and burgundy coloring with clean trim and imprint. This Parker Oversize is a great writer that I would consider to be in Excellent+ Condition. This Oversize Parker Vac is restored and is ready to write with or just add it to your writing arsenal collection!
