Description

For your consideration we are offering for sale this Gorgeous Restored 1937 Senior Maxima Parker Double Jewel Burgundy Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

The NIB, Feed, Section and Breather Tube have been ultrasonically cleaned. I replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Feather Split Arrow Clip, Chevron Cap (///\\\) Banding, 14K Parker NIB and bottom tassel. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Parker Vacumatic is a Senior Maxima that measures 5 3/8" capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs and the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The Burgundy Pearl color is absolutely beautiful with fabulous coloring. The cap has the Feather Split Arrow Gold Filled Clip with the Chevron Cap Banding that displays no brassing. The top and bottom jewels are striped to match the cap, barrel, section, and blind cap of the fountain pen and have been polished to a high shine. The barrel is clearly stamped with, "Geo. S. Parker Vacumatic Made in U.S.A. with date code 7 (for 1937) in the 3rd Quarter". Additionally, the barrel transparency is fantastic, it is water clear and doesn't get any better than this. The blind cap securely fits. The cap and barrel are free of any personalizations or monograms.

This Parker Maxima Vacumatic retains the correct "Speedline" filling unit that was produced for 2nd Generation Vacumatic and works as it was designed to. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 12-15 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly.

This Parker NIB is 14K Gold with a broad point that measures .96mm when measures with digital calipers. The Nib has the same date code as on the barrel, 1937. The two-tone platinum coating is present with only some minor wear - it doesn't hurt the writing performance and only point it out for clarity sake. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a medium/broad stroke and has almost no flex at all. In the writing sample provided, the line variations measure at .41mm on the horizontal lines to .87mm when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

Parker Burgundy Senior Maxima Fountain Pens doesn't get much better than this - striped jewels, striped section, barrel with water clear transparency. I would consider this Maxima to be in Excellent to Near Mint Condition that is ready to write with or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
