Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1937 Parker Vacumatic Senior Maxima Double Jewel Fountain Pen in Jet Black Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and is now back in superb writing condition.

The barrel, feed, section, and breather tube have been ultrasonically cleaned. I replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. I have hand-polished the Gold Filled Split Arrow Clip, Chevron Cap (///\\\) Banding, 14K Parker NIB, and bottom tassel. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of the fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is a Senior Maxima that measures 5 3/8" capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no cracks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The Jet Black celluloid color is gorgeous and displays that classic look of the 1930s. The cap has the Gold Filled Arrow Clip with the Wide Chevron Cap Banding that displays no wear. The top and bottom jewels are black and have been polished to a high shine. The barrel is stamped clear and crisp with, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC with the MADE IN U.S.A. with a date code 47 (for 1937) in the 4th Quarter". The barrel transparency is water clear, albeit, with minor/mild ambering. The cap and barrel are free of any personalizations or monograms.

This Parker Senior Maxima Vacumatic retains the correct "Speedline" filling unit produced for the 2nd Generation Vacumatics and works flawlessly. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, in my tests with water about 10-12 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly.

This Parker comes with a date matching 1937, Q4 14K nib. The actual 14K Parker nib point (iridium) has a medium point measuring roughly .61mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine to medium stroke line variation. In the writing sample provided, the fine line measures at .50mm (with light pressure) and will flex to a medium stroke that measures at .70mm with medium to firm pressure when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

This is one of those vintage Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pens you don't always get a chance to secure in your collection in this type of condition. I would consider this Parker to be in Excellent Condition, the color is fantastic with the gold-filled trim being in fabulous condition, and fantastic barrel clarity. This Parker Senior Maxima Fountain Pen is ready to write with or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
