Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1937 Parker Royal Challenger Fountain Pen in Burgundy Celluloid with scarce Sword Clip. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, ultrasonically cleaned and put back together and is now in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, cap, and barrel. Replaced the old sac with a new, properly sized silicone sac. Hand polished the Gold Filled Sword Clip, Triple Ring Cap Banding, and 14K Parker NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, blind cap and cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the material. This Parker Royal Challenger is the Larger Size and measures 5 1/8" capped and 6" posted.

The fountain pen cap, barrel, and blind cap are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The Cap has a Gold Filled Parker Sword Clip and has been polished to shine brightly - there is some light wear at the top of the clip and around the top of the ring where the jewel sits. The triple ring cap banding displays rich gold filled color with no brassing. The barrel is clearly stamped with, albeit light, "PARKER ROYAL CHALLENGER GEO. S. PARKER MADE IN U.S.A.". There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel.

This Royal Challenger is a Button Filler and has been tested with water and fills as it should. The filling unit operates as it was originally intended with a new silicone sac.

The Parker NIB is 14K with a 7 date code. The actual writing portion of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .66mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine to broad stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the fine line measures at .45mm (on the horizontal strokes in the writing sample) and the broad line measures at 1.03mm with medium to firm pressure when I measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that is listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is the King of the Royal Challenger Family with it being the largest size, having the proper Sword Clip, Triple Cap Bands, and in the Burgundy Celluloid. I would consider this Parker grade in Very Fine to Excellent Condition. It is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
