Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1937 Parker Vacumatic Double Jewel Burgundy Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen in the Standard Size. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Feather Clip, Three Ring Cap Band, Bottom Jewel Tassel, and 14K Parker NIB. Additionally, I cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to protect the celluloid and bring back the vibrancy of this fountain pen.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The color is a lovely burgundy color that really displays quite well. This cap displays the Split Arrow Gold Filled Clip and Three Ring Cap Banding. The clip displays no wear. The three-ring cap banding shows no wear. All the gold-filled trim has been polished to a high shine. The top and bottom jewels are burgundy striped and polished to bring back a beautiful shine. The barrel imprint is stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC with the Made in the Date code worn away". The transparency of the barrel is excellent and a person can easily see through the barrel, albeit with minor ambering. This Parker Vacumatic is a Standard size, which measures 5 1/4" in length capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This 1st Generation Parker Vacumatic has the correct Lock Down Filling Unit. The Vacumatic Filling System has been restored with a new diaphragm, filler unit greased, and threads cleaned. This Vacumatic Filling system now operates as it was originally intended to. Typically in my tests with water about 12-15 presses to fill the barrel full.

The Parker NIB is a 14K gold Split Arrow NIB with a 7 date code for 1937 which is how I am dating the pen along with the fact that it is a 1st Generation Vacumatic type that was made from 1934 to 1938. The actual writing portion (iridium) of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .62mm when measured with digital calipers. When creating a writing sample, the NIB writes with a fine to broad stroke. In the writing sample provided, the fine line measures at roughly .49mm, and the broad stroke measures 1.01mm when measured with digital calipers. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Montblanc Blue Ink. This is a fantastic writer with semi-flex nib.

This 1937 Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen displays a great Burgundy Pearl color. I would easily grade this Parker in Very Fine to Excellent Condition. This Vac is ready to write or just add to writing arsenal collection.
