Description

For your consideration we are offering for sale this 1938 Parker Shadow-Wave Golden Brown Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen in restored condition with Double Jewels and Star Clip. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, cap and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Split Arrow STAR Clip, Chevron Cap Banding and 14K NIB. Buffed and Polished the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no cracks, teeth marks or repairs. The cap has the Split Arrow Parker clip with no brassing and displays the "STAR" symbol just above the "P" in Parker. The Chevron Cap Banding displays a wonderful gold filled color, again, with no brassing. The top and bottom jewels are black, in good condition. The jeweled blind cap securely fits.

The barrel is clearly and crisply stamped with, "Geo. S. Parker Vacumatic Made in U.S.A. with date code 8 in the 3rd quarter". The transparency of the barrel is fantastic, as you can see in photo. There are no monograms on the barrel. Just to point out, there is a tiny nick in the blind cap celluloid, which you can see in the last image - it is tiny and measures roughly 1.26mm by 1.48mm - just wanted to point this out for clarity sake.

The Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 5 to 6 presses and it will fill full. The filling unit operates smoothly and works flawlessly.

This Parker Vacumatic Shadow Wave Fountain Pen is Junior Model that measures 4 5/8" in length capped and 5 5/16" posted. The 14K Parker Vacumatic NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .58mm, measured with digital calipers. The NIB is in excellent condition and writes very smooth.

When writing a sample the NIB writes with a fine / medium line. The writing sample provided in the image has a medium stroke that measures .57mm and can flex to a roughly .71mm with medium pressure. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that is listed for sale. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is a great vintage Parker Vacumatic Shadow Wave Fountain Pen in the Golden Brown Pearl Celluloid. Has the harder to find Star Clip and would grade it in the Excellent Condition. It is ready to write or just add to writing arsenal collection.
