Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this spectacular Restored 1938 Parker Vacumatic Major Double Jewel Fountain Pen in Burgundy Pearl Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and is now in wonderful writing condition.

The nib, feed, and breather tube have been ultrasonically cleaned. I replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. I have hand polished the gold-filled Split Arrow Clip, Chevron Cap (///\\\) Banding, 14K Parker 2-Tone NIB, and bottom tassel. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and protect the celluloid of the fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is a Major Size that measures 5 1/4" capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always secured tightly to the barrel. The Burgundy Pearl color is simply beautiful with vibrant burgundy color. The cap has the Split Arrow Gold Filled Clip with the Chevron Cap Banding displaying no brassing or wear. The top jewel is striped to match the cap, barrel, section, and blind cap of the fountain pen. The bottom jewel, which is hard to see from the photo, is a black and burgundy "bullseye" type jewel which Parker was known to do and is pretty scarce to find on any Vacumatic. The barrel is perfectly stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC MADE IN U.S.A. with date code 8 (for 1938) in the 3rd Quarter". The barrel transparency is fantastic, a person can easily see through the barrel, albeit with minor ambering. The blind cap securely fits. The cap and barrel are free of any personalizations or monograms.

This Parker Vacumatic retains the correct "Speedline" filling unit that was produced for 2nd Generation Vacumatic and works flawlessly. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 12-15 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly.

This Parker Vacumatic has a perfectly unworn 2-Tone NIB. It is 14K Gold with a fine point that measures .53mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine to medium stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the stroke/line ranges from .57mm to .80mm with firm pressure when measuring with digital calipers. The platinum masking on the nib is all retained which is tough to find like this. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Blue Ink.

This Parker Burgundy Pearl Double Jewel Major Fountain Pen doesn't get much better - the celluloid is vibrant and looks incredible along with the perfect platinum plated 2-tone nib. I would consider this Parker Vac to be easily in Excellent+ Condition. It is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
