Description

For your consideration we are offering for sale this Gorgeous Restored 1938 Senior Maxima Parker Double Jewel Silver Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition. This particular fountain pen was restored by Ron Zorn in Ohio during the October 2017 Fountain Pen Show.

The NIB, Feed, Section and Breather Tube have been ultrasonically cleaned. I replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Nickel Plated Feather Split Arrow Clip, Chevron Cap (\\\///) Banding, 14K Parker NIB and bottom tassel. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Parker Vacumatic is a Senior Maxima that measures 5 3/8" capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs and the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The color is extremely vibrant and gorgeous to look at. The cap has the Feather Split Arrow Nickel Plated Clip with the Chevron Cap Banding that displays just a hint of brassing. The top and bottom jewels are striped to match the cap, barrel and blind cap of the fountain pen and have been polished to a high shine. The barrel is clearly stamped with, "Geo. S. Parker Vacumatic Made in U.S.A. with date code 8 for 1941 in the 2nd Quarter". One note about the barrel stamp, it has been double stamped and one can really notice on the "Vacumatic Made in U.S.A. and the dated code", which makes for an interested collector variant. The blind cap securely fits and the tassel has a bit of brassing to the high point edges. The cap does have a cartouche and it is personalized in very small letters, "Leon Thorhas". The barrel does not have any personalizations or monograms.

I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 8 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly and flawlessly. The Speedline filling system is the correct filling unit for 2nd generation Parker Vacumatics, which this Vac is.

This Parker NIB is a USA PARKER 14K Gold type and has a fine point. The actual writing portion of the 14K Parker NIB has a fine point measuring roughly .48mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with an extra fine stroke. In the writing sample provided, the extra fine line on the horizontal strokes measures at .37mm when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is one of those vintage Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pens you don't always get a chance to secure in your collection. I would consider this to be in Excellent Condition, it is Parker Senior Maxima that is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
