Description

For your consideration we are offering for sale this Restored 1938 Double Jewel Parker Shadow-Wave Fountain Pen in Silver Pearl Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, and breather tube. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Nickel Plated Feather Clip, Double Ring Cap Banding, Bottom Tassie, and 14K Split Arrow NIB. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of the fountain pen.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in great condition with no cracks, chips, or repairs. The cap has the Nickel-plated Feather Arrow clip that displays a bright white finish. The Double Ring Cap Banding displays a wonderful bright white finish as well - the trim on this Parker Vacumatic has been well cared for. The top and bottom jewels are black and polished to a high shine. The jeweled blind cap securely fits. The barrel is clearly stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC MADE IN U.S.A. with a date code of 8 (for 1938 ) in the 3rd quarter". The transparency of the barrel is good, albeit with mild to heavy ambering. There are no monograms or personalizations on the cap or barrel. This 1st Generation Parker Vacumatic Shadow Wave Fountain Pen measures 5 1/8" in length capped and 6 1/8" posted.

The Lockdown Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 12-15 presses and it will fill full. The proper Lock-Down Filling Unit operates smoothly and works as it was designed to. I have greased the filling unit to provide continuous smooth operation for years to come.

The NIB is a 14K Parker Split Arrow and has the date code, 1939. The 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .64mm, measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample the NIB writes with an extra-fine to medium stroke/line. The writing sample provided in the image has an extra-fine stroke that measures .43mm and can flex to roughly .87mm with normal to medium pressure. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.

This is a 1st Generation (1933 to 1938) Parker Vacumatic Shadow Wave Fountain Pen in the Silver Pearl color that is ready to write or just add to writing arsenal collection. I would grade this Parker Vacumatic in Very Good to Excellent Condition and is a great addition to your Shadow Wave Collection.
