Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this lovely Restored 1939 Parker Senior Maxima Vacumaitc Double Jewel Fountain Pen in the Emerald Pearl Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Split Arrow Blue Diamond Clip, Chevron Cap Banding, 14K 2-Tone Parker NIB, and bottom tassel. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Parker Vacumatic is a Senior Maxima that measures 5 3/8" capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The Emerald Pearl color is extremely vibrant and gorgeous to look at. The cap has the Split Arrow Blue Diamond Gold Filled Clip with the Chevron Cap Banding. The top of the clip edging does have a hint of brassing, extremely minor. The cap banding displays a gorgeous gold filled color with no brassing. The barrel has good transparency, albeit with medium ambering. The top and bottom jewels are striped to match the rest of the pen and have been polished to a gorgeous shine. The barrel is clearly stamped with, "Geo. S. Parker Vacumatic Made in U.S.A.with date code 9 (for 1939) in the 4th Quarter". The blind cap securely fits to hide the Speedline Filling unit.

I have tested the Speedline filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 7 to 10 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly. The Speedline filling system is the correct filling unit for 2nd generation Parker Vacumatics which, this Vac is.

This Parker NIB is 2-Tone 14K and has a Stub point. Additionally, this Parker NIB has the 1939 date code which, matches the barrel date code. The actual writing portion of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .65mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a double extra fine to a double broad stroke line. In the writing sample provided, the double extra fine line measures at .25mm (on the horizontal lines) and the double broad stroke measures at 1.20mm with medium to firm pressure when I am measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that is listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is a fantastic vintage Parker Senior Maxima Vacumatic Fountain Pen in the Emerald Pearl Celluloid. I would grade this Maxima in Excellent Condition. This fabulous Parker Senior Maxima is ready to write or add to your writing arsenal collection.
