Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Beautifully Restored 1939 Parker Streamlined Standard Long Major Double Jeweled Vacumatic in the Burgundy Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen with Star Clip. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, cap, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the trim, Star Split Arrow Clip, 3 Ring Cap Banding, and 14K Vac NIB. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, blind cap, and striped jewels to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of fountain pen.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The cap has the Split Arrow Feather clip with Star and the 3 ring gold filled cap bands. The gold-filled trim is in excellent condition with no brassing/wear. The top and bottom jewels carry the same striped design as the barrel and cap and have been polished to a high shine. The barrel imprint is crisp and reads, "Geo. S. Parker Parker Vacumatic Made in U.S.A. PAT with 9 date code (for 1939) in the 4th quarter". The transparency of the barrel is excellent being near water-clear. The cap fits securely to the barrel and the jeweled blind cap also securely fits. There are no monograms or personalizations on the cap or barrel. This Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen is a Long Major size that measures 5 3/8" in length capped and 6 1/4" posted.

This 1939 Parker Vacumatic has the correct Speedline filling unit and it works smoothly and flawlessly. The Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 8 to 12 presses and it will fill full.

The 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .70mm when measured with digital calipers. When creating the writing sample, the thinnest line measures at a medium (.69mm) stroke and flexes up to a broad stroke(1.21mm) with firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

The significance of this Parker is that it is an Uncataloged variant made by Parker during the 1939 Vacumatic evolution time period. It has the Star Clip that was in production from 1939 to early 1940 that was the symbol for Parker's Lifetime guarantee at that time. It is one of those Parker Vacumatics that you don't come across frequently and certainly a fabulous addition to the collection for those looking to acquire harder to find variants. This is in ready to write condition or just add to writing arsenal collection that I would grade in Excellent+ condition.
