Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Gorgeous Restored Circa 1932 Waterman #3 Gray Pearl Fountain Pen with Chrome Trim. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished, and Waxed the outside of the cap and barrel to bring back the vibrancy of the material and to protect the celluloid. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new, silicone sac. Hand polished the Waterman stamped Chrome Plate Cap Clip, Cap Banding, and Lever Box Assembly along with the Waterman Ideal 14K #2 NIB.

This fountain pen is made from celluloid in the Grey Pearl pattern. The coloring is an excellent Silver, Black with areas a Red in the celluloid material. The barrel has a clear and crisp imprint at the center of the barrel that reads, "WATERMAN'S REG. U.S. IDEAL GLOBE LOGO PAT. OFF MADE IN USA FOUNTAIN PEN". The butt end of the fountain pen has the 3 imprint.

The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly. There are no personalizations or monograms either the cap or the barrel. There are no cracks, nicks or repairs to the celluloid. This Waterman 3 measures 5 1/8" in length capped and 6 1/2" posted.

The lever and box assembly have been cleaned and oiled. It works flawlessly and smoothly. The Clip has been polished and displays no wear. The cap banding is very clean with above average condition for the age of this pen.

This is the fun part - this Waterman 14K nib has some great flexibility all while writing smoothly. When measuring the actual tip of the 14K Ideal #2 NIB, it measures at .76mm with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with an extra fine line measuring roughly .38mm with very light pressure and flexes up to a triple broad stroke of 1.83mm with normal to medium pressure; I didn't want to overextend the NIB's capabilities. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills wonderfully. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This vintage Waterman 3 Fountain Pen is in ready to write condition using the incredible flexible NIB. I would consider the condition of this fountain in excellent condition and certainly a fun to write with collector grade writing instrument. An excellent addition to your writing arsenal collection.
