Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Gorgeous Restored Circa 1930s Waterman's 94 Blue & Cream Fountain Pen with Nickel Trim. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished, and Waxed the outside of the cap and barrel to bring back the vibrancy of the material and to protect the celluloid. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new, rubber sac. Hand polished the Nickel Plate Cap Clip, Cap Banding, and Lever Box Assembly along with the Waterman New York Ideal 14K #4 NIB.

This fountain pen is made from celluloid in the blue cream pattern. The coloring is an excellent blue cream with some orange flecks in the celluloid material. The barrel has a clear and crisp imprint at the center of the barrel that reads, "WATERMAN'S REG. U.S. IDEAL GLOBE LOGO PAT. OFF MADE IN USA FOUNTAIN PEN 994". The butt end of the fountain pen has the 94 imprint.

The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly. There are no personalizations or monograms either the cap or the barrel. There are no cracks, nicks or repairs to the celluloid. This Waterman 94 measures 5 1/8" in length capped and 6 1/2" posted.

The lever and box assembly have been cleaned and oiled. It works flawlessly and smoothly. The lever is crisp and clean with no wear to the nickel. The Clip has been polished and displays no wear. The cap banding is starting to display some wear but above average condition for the age of this pen.

This is the fun part - this Waterman 14K New York nib has some great flexibility all while writing smoothly. When measuring the actual tip of the 14K Ideal New York #4 NIB, it measures at .76mm with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with a fine line measuring roughly .55mm with very light pressure and flexes up to 1.66mm with normal to medium pressure; I didn't want to overextend the NIB's capabilities. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills wonderfully. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This vintage Waterman's 94 Fountain Pen is in ready to write condition using the incredible flexible NIB. I would consider the condition of this fountain in excellent condition and certainly a fun to write with collector grade writing instrument. An excellent addition to your writing arsenal collection.
