Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Never Inked Aurora Ecosteel Fountain Pen with 14K Gold Rhodium Plated Broad NIB. This fountain pen has never been inked, new in the original box. I consider this Fountain Pen to be in New Old Stock, Mint Condition.

The Hastil was designed by Marco Zanuso in 1969. It has a place in the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) as item number 61.1972. While Zanuso is generally credited with the design of the Hastil, it is said he co-designed the pen with Richard Sapper, who famously designed Lamy’s Dialog 1 ballpoint. The Hastil was first released in 1970 and has been produced continuously since then. It comes in a number of variants, some of which are no longer sold, but the main one is the “Ecosteel.” The particular fountain pen is the Ecosteel type and is a brushed stainless steel with a very fine brushing, which give the steel a satin-like texture, almost like a titanium. The Ecosteel process is Aurora’s proprietary technology so it’s not found on pens from other makers.

The body of the pen is in mint condition with no scratching, dings, or denting. The slip-type cap is always securing tight to the barrel. There are no monograms or personalization to either the cap or barrel. The cap does have the "AURORA" stamped on the cap lip. This Aurora "Ecosteel" Fountain Pen measures 5 3/8" in length capped and 6 1/8" inches posted.

The fountain pen features 14K Solid Gold Rhodium Plated Nib. The point of the nib measures at 1.23mm when measured with digital calipers which places the nib in the broad to double broad category I have never inked the pen as I wanted to keep the pen in Mint Condition.

The Aurora fountain pen comes in the original Aurora Stainless Cylindrical Box. The box is quite unique and in excellent condition.

I would have to express this Aurora Ecosteel is a wonderful design for the time. The presentation box along with this fountain pen never being inked and in Mint Condition makes in a treasured writing instrument for the deserving collection or is in ready to write condition. Again, I would consider the condition of this fountain in New Old Stock, Mint condition. Certainly, a collector grade writing instrument to add to one's writing arsenal collection.
