Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Very Scarce Restored Circa 1934 Four-Way Green & Black Marble Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, ultrasonically cleaned and put back together and is now in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and barrel. Replaced the old rubber bulbs with new ones. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. The barrel has transparency and can see through easily when held to the light. This Four-Way Fountain Pen measures 5 5/8" capped and 6 7/8" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The Nickle Plate Clip has just a hint of brassing on the high-point of the ball. The cap banding shows brassing along the lower edge of the banding.

I have tested the bulb filling units with water and fills as it should and now operates as it was intended to.

The NIBs are Warranted 14K type. The actual writing portion (iridium) of the 14K NIBs have a medium point measuring roughly .66mm and .76mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIBs, they write with a medium stroke to double broad stroke. In the writing sample provided, the medium line measures at .65mm and the double broad stroke measures 1.32mm when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink. The one NIB is very firm and the other has some flex with a more broad tip.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

The Four-Way Fountain Pen you see in the listing was manufactured by the Chameleon Fountain Pen Corporation in Chicago, IL. The fountain pens were produced during 1929 to 1934. The idea was to have two nibs and two separate filling units with one barrel and cap so that using two different color inks would become practicable. The Four-Way Fountain Pen, some speculate, was a lower price point to the Chameleon proper. A unique pen to say the least and one for the collector cabinet, in my opinion. Historical sales will back up the listing price and will consider all offers.

If you understand your fountain pen history then you know how scarce these Four-Way/Chameleon Fountain Pens are in today's writing instrument world. This is a creative and quality designed fountain pen. This example is from my personal collection and would grade in Excellent Condition. This is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
