Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Uncommon Circa 1912 Jaxon Black Chased Hard Rubber Stud Filler Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and now is in wonderful writing condition.

NOTE: Jaxon was a sub-brand of Conklin. As far as our research dates go back, this Jaxon brand date ranges from 1911 to 1919

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in as close to perfect condition as one can get with color, chasing, with no chips, cracks or repairs and the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The barrel is stamped with, "THE JAXON PEN SELF FILLING 3 PAT. OCT. 29, 1901". The cap is a clipless type. The filling system is called a stud filler and the stud is attached to a bar inside the pen. Rotate the metal ring to lock or unlock the stud. When unlocked, press the stud to compress the sac. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Stud Filling System works great and operates as it was intended to.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB and feed. I hand cleaned the outside and inside of the cap and barrel with mineral oil. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new silicone sac. The Black Chased Hard Rubber material has perfect black coloring and the chasing is clean and crisp - the way these should look. This Jaxon Fountain Pen measures 5 1/4" capped and 6 1/4" posted.

This Jaxon has a #3 Warranted Nib that is flexible. The actual iridium tip on this Nib has a medium point measuring roughly .76mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine to double broad stroke line. In the writing sample provided, the fine line measures at .51mm and will flex to a double broad stroke measuring at 1.27mm with normal to medium pressure when measuring with digital calipers.

The Jaxon Fountain Pen is in Excellent to Near Mint-Mint condition and I would consider it one of the better fountain pens I have handled from this era. The hard rubber material is quite remarkable with it's amazing chasing crispness and deep black coloring. This Sub Brand of Conklin, known as Jaxon, is ready to write if you choose to do so, or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
