Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Circa 1995 to 2001 Montblanc Meisterstuck Solitaire 146 Sterling Vermeil Pinstripe pattern Fountain Pen. The fountain pen appears to have never been used very little and is considered in Near Mint Condition. I have taken apart the pen, thoroughly cleaned it, put it back together, and it is now in superb writing condition with a smooth 18K medium nib.

The cap, barrel, and trim have the Sterling Silver Gold Vermeil Overlay and the overlay has been polished to display brightly. The cap and barrel have a "pinstripe" design. The Serial number is GI100159, GERMANY, and METAL3 stamped on the side of the clip. The cap banding is stamped with, "MONTBLANC MEISTERSTUCK NO 146". The cap is marked, "925 & StØD".

The cap and barrel are in perfect condition with no dings, denting, nicks, scratches, or repairs. The cap is always securing tightly to the barrel. The trim is perfect with no scratches or wear. This fountain pen measures 5 5/8" inches in length capped and 6 3/8" inches posted.

The Montblanc fountain pen comes with the box seen in the images. The Montblanc literature also accompanies the pen in the box.

This Montblanc has a two-tone 18K/750 Medium (.89mm) NIB when measured with digital calipers. When creating a writing sample, the NIB writes with a fine to medium stroke/line. The writing sample provided in the image has the fine stroke measuring at .56mm and the medium stroke at .89mm with medium to firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Montblanc Blue Ink. NOTE: This nib writes spectacularly in my opinion, it has a soft, smooth, wet line that outperforms many other nib that I have used over the years.

The filling system was removed, internal components cleaned, and the piston seal was greased. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Piston Filling System works as it was intended to. The ink view window is water-clear as expected from a pristine example like this.

This pen here is considered the 4th generation of the 146 models made in the mid-1990s to early 2000. This Montblanc LeGrand Solitaire is one of the most reliable and refined pens of that period, with a silicone cork and striped ink window. The pen has a great weight in the hand weighing nearly 50 grams. The pen feels solid in the hand, posted or not posted.

This fabulous Montblanc Fountain Pen is in Near Mint to Mint Condition. A classy and sophisticated writing instrument that would be a great addition to your writing arsenal rotation and will be a pleasure to write with. This is one of the best pens I have ever had the pleasure of using/writing with.
