Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Beautifully Restored Circa 1940 Montblanc 136 PIF Celluloid Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB and feed. Hand cleaned the cap and barrel. Replaced the old cork with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled trim and 14C/585 NIB. I have Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of fountain pen. This Montblanc 136 has the long striated visualated barrel with excellent transparency.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition showing no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always secure tightly to the barrel. The cap has the Gold Filled Clip that displays no brassing. The Gold Filled thin-thick-thin cap banding displays only the very slightest brassing on a small area of the top edge of the thick cap banding. The top of the cap retains the snowcap logo. The piston filler blind cap securely fits and is stamped with, "136 and M", just above the piston filler blind cap it is stamped with "D.R.P. 652405". This Montblanc 136 size measures 5 1/8" in length capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This Montblanc has a telescoping piston filling system. The piston filler has a new cork, been cleaned, greased to work as it was originally intended to. The piston filler works flawless and operates smoothly now.

The Montblanc NIB is a Two-Tone 14C NIB. The NIB has a broad, flexible point measuring roughly 1.18mm when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample provided in the image ranges from a fine stroke that measures .56mm on the horizontal lines to a triple broad stroke of roughly 2.27mm with medium to firm pressure when I measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This generation Montblanc Fountain Pen is extremely scarce and are increasingly difficult with this type of NIB which makes this an excellent collector variant to add to one's writing arsenal collection. I would grade this Montblanc 136 in Excellent Condition. Certainly, if you are a Montblanc collector this is one of those types of pens you will want for your collection that is amazing to write with.
