Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1937 Parker Vacumatic Standard Size Double Jewel Burgundy Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and is now back in great writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Feather Gold Plated Split Arrow Clip, 3-Ring Cap Banding, 14K PARKER USA Nib, and Bottom Tassel. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the Barrel, Cap, and Blind Cap to bring back the vibrancy and protect the celluloid of the fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is a first generation Standard-size Vacumatic model which measures 5 1/8" capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in great condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the Feather Split Arrow Gold Filled Clip that displays just a hint of wear on the backside of the clip ring. The 3-Ring Cap Banding displays a bright gold-filled color along with the blind cap tassie. The top and bottle jewels are striped to match the cap, barrel, and section and have been polished to a high shine. The barrel is stamped cleanly with, " GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC MADE IN USA with date code 7 (for 1937) in the 4th quarter ". The transparency on the barrel is remarkable, it is water clear!

The filling unit on this Parker is known as a "lockdown" filler. It is the proper filling unit for Parker 1st Generation Fountain Pens that were produced from 1932 to 1937. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Lockdown Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 12 to 14 presses to nearly full. I have greased the filling unit, so it operates smoothly.

This Parker Vacumatic has a 14K Parker Two-Tone Nib that is dated in 1937 in the 4th quarter making it a match to the fountain pen. The two-tone platinum masking on the nib is intact with no wear - hard to find nibs like this anymore with the masking fully intact. The actual 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .69mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a medium stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the medium line measures between .61mm to .79mm under medium pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Blue Ink.

This is one of those vintage Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pens you don't always get a chance to secure in your collection in the Burgundy Pearl Celluloid and 1st Generation Standard Size. This Vac has all the "high-line" features; striped section, striped jewels, clean gold-filled trim, water-clear barrel, and vibrant burgundy coloring with a clean barrel imprint. This Parker is a great writer that I would consider to be in Excellent+ Condition. This Parker Vac is restored and is ready to write with or just add it to your writing arsenal collection!
