Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this scarce Restored 1937 Parker Vacumatic Senior Maxima Double Jewel Fountain Pen in Golden Pearl Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and is now in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. I replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. I hand-polished the Gold Filled Arrow Clip, Chevron (///\\\) Cap Banding, Blind Cap Tassie, and 14K Parker NIB. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and protect the celluloid of the fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is the Senior Maxima that measures 5 3/8" capped and 6 3/8" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in superb condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The Golden Pearl celluloid color is gorgeous and displays very vibrantly. The clip on the cap displays very minor wear. The cap banding displays a hint of wear along the bottom edging. The bottom tassie shows very minor wear on the edging. The top and bottom jewels are striped to match the rest of the fountain pen. The barrel is stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC with the MADE IN U.S.A. with a date code 7 (for 1937) in the 3rd Quarter - the date code imprints are light but can still see them under magnification". The cap and barrel are free of any personalizations or monograms.

This Parker Senior Maxima Vacumatic retains the correct "Speedline" filling unit that was produced for 2nd Generation Vacumatic. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works, typically in my tests with water, with about 12-15 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly.

This Parker Vacumatic comes with a fantastic writing 14K gold medium point nib that measures .64mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a Medium line. In the writing sample provided, the stroke/line ranges from .60mm to .81mm when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Montblanc Blue Ink. The nib writes with a smooth, wet line. This nib is genuinely an above-average writer - you will like the smoothness and softness of it.

This Parker Senior Maxima is the real deal top to bottom. It displays the wide cap band of the Maxima and features the correct 10-feather-per-side arrow nib The pen has striped jewels and a section that matches the rest of the pen. This Vacumatic is during the 1937 transition from the 1st generation to second generation Vacumatics sometimes referred to as 1.5 generation models.

This vintage Parker Vacumatic Senior Maxima Fountain Pen is a fantastic and beautiful scarce example. I would consider this Senior Maxima to be in Very Fine to Excellent Condition! This Senior Maxima is ready to write with or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
