Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Gorgeous Restored 1940-41 Senior Maxima Parker Vacumaitc Double Jewel Azure Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Split Arrow Diamond Clip, Chevron Cap Banding, 14K Parker NIB and bottom tassel. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Parker Vacumatic is a Senior Maxima that measures 5 3/8" capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs and the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The Azure/blue color is extremely vibrant and gorgeous to look at. The cap has the Split Arrow Diamond Gold Filled Clip with the Chevron Cap Banding. The top of the clip edging does have a hint of brassing. The cap banding does have a tiny bit of brassing along the bottom edge around the cartouche area. The barrel has good transparency with a person easily being able to see through it, albeit with mild ambering.  The top and bottom jewels are black and have been polished to a gorgeous high shine. The barrel is stamped with, "Geo. S. Parker Vacumatic - with the Made in U.S.A. and date code polished away - that said, Vac collectors know this model was made between 1940 and 1941". The blind cap securely fits - a Note on the blind cap jewel, it is known as a "fish-eye" and is an interesting variant.

I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 8 to 10 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly and flawlessly. The Speedline filling system is the correct filling unit for 2nd generation Parker Vacumatics, which this Vac is.

This Parker NIB is 14K and writes very smoothly, I cannot emphasize this enough. The Parker NIB is a 14K Gold Split Arrow NIB with a 1936 date code and writes extremely smooth. The actual 14K Parker NIB has a fine/medium point measuring roughly .59mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with an extra fine to a broad stroke. In the writing sample provided, the extra fine line measures at .39mm (with light pressure) and the broad stroke measures at 1.01mm with medium to firm pressure when I am measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is a fantastic vintage Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen in the Azure Pearl Celluloid that is in Excellent Condition. This is a very scarce Parker Vacumatic to find in the Azure Pearl celluloid and the Senior Maxima size. The azure color was manufactured for roughly 18 months that started approximately in mid-1940 - compared to 4+ years for the other Vacumatic colors. This fabulous Parker Senior Maxima is ready to write or add to your writing arsenal collection.
