Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1942 Parker Vacumatic Senior Maxima Single Jewel Fountain Pen in Jet Black Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and now is in wonderful writing condition.

The NIB, Feed, Section, and Breather Tube have been ultrasonically cleaned. I replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Blue Diamond Split Arrow Clip, Chevron Cap (///\\\) Banding, and 14K two-tone Parker NIB. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and protect the celluloid of the fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is a Senior Maxima size that measures 5 3/8" capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no cracks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The Jet Black celluloid color is gorgeous and displays that sophisticated/classic, yet simple look. The cap has the Blue Diamond Arrow Gold Filled Clip with the Narrow Chevron Cap Banding that displays no wear. The top and bottom jewels are black and have been polished to a high shine. The barrel is stamped clearly, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC with the MADE IN U.S.A. with a date code 2 (for 1942) in the 2nd Quarter". The barrel transparency is water clear, albeit, with minor ambering. The cap and barrel are free of any personalizations or monograms.

This Parker Senior Maxima Vacumatic has a "Speedline" filling unit and works flawlessly. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 10-12 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly.

This Parker 14K NIB has the gorgeous two-tone platinum plated marking still intact. The nib's number matching to the barrel date code, 1942, which makes the nib and barrel a marriage. The Iridium on the nib has a medium point that measures .60mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine to medium stroke/line. In the writing sample shown in the images, the stroke/line ranges from .45mm to .83mm when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink. The nib writes with a very smooth line with excellent ink flow to the paper.

This vintage Parker Vacumatic Single Jewel Maxima Fountain Pen is a tough pen to acquire. The single jewel Maxima started coming out in 1942 and are very much more scarce to find than the 1937 to 1941 Double Jewel Maximas. I would consider this Senior Maxima to be in Excellent+ to Near Mint condition! It is ready to write with or add to your writing arsenal collection.

I hesitated before purchase on price point, but once I recetthe pen, every point checked I was gasping in wonder. I can replace parts and polish, sure.. but Antique Digger does it perfectly! Very happy to have found such an expert shop and the pen of course!
I know where I’ll look if I need a vintage pen that I am sure about! 😃👍💕 Thank you!
