Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Fabulous Restored 1943 Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen in Green Gold Celluloid. This is an uncommon fountain pen because it is a Duofold material with Vacumatic stamped on the barrel - normally it would be Duofold stamped. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, ultrasonically cleaned and put back together and is now in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Split Arrow Clip, Gold Filled Coin Stacked Cap Banding, and 14K Parker NIB. I have Cleaned, Buffed, Polished, and Waxed the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of the fountain pen.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has a Gold Filled Split Arrow Clip with just very minor brassing at the end of the clip. The gold filled coin stacked cap-banding displays a wonderful gold filled color that displays no brassing. The top jewel is black and polished to a great shine The barrel is clearly stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER VACUMATIC MADE IN U.S.A. with date code 3 (for 1943) in the first quarter". The transparency of the barrel is good and one can see through it clearly albeit with ambering. The blind cap securely fits. There are no personalizations or monograms to the fountain pen cap or barrel. This Debutante Size Parker Fountain Pen measuring 4 7/8" in length capped and 5 7/16" posted.

The Vacu-Fill System works great, typically in my tests with water about 5 to 7 presses and it will fill roughly 7/8 full. This Vacu-Fill unit is in excellent condition; it operates smoothly and works flawlessly.

The Parker NIB is a 14K Split Arrow. The iridium is great and creates a smooth writing experience. The actual writing tip of this 14K Parker NIB has a fine point measuring roughly .53mm when measured with digital calipers. When creating the writing sample, this Parker NIB writes with a medium to broad stroke. The writing sample provided in the listing image the finest line measures at .47mm with light pressure and the broad line measured .93mm with normal to firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This Parker is an uncommon variant. In late 1942 to early 1943, Parker produced some Vacumatics in the striped celluloid better known from the 1940's Duofold series. These type with the Vacumatic imprint appear about two years after the introduction of Duofold proper. They feature a Vac nib and Vac-style clip, as well as the coin stacked cap-band. The pen has a "Vacumatic", not "Duofold", barrel imprint which makes the pen very uncommon and desirable to collectors.

This is a gorgeous restored Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen in the Debutante Size with the Green-Gold Celluloid. I would grade this Parker in the Excellent Condition. It is ready to write or just add to writing arsenal collection.
