Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1943 Parker Silver Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen in the Major Size. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and now is in superb writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, and breather tube. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand-polished the Nickel plated Blue Diamond Clip, Nickel plated Chevron Cap Banding (///\\\), and 14K NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, and Polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and protect the material of the fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is a major size that measures 5 1/8" in length capped and 6" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the split arrow Nickel plated blue diamond clip and is in perfect condition with no wear. The chevron cap banding is in very good condition with just a hint of wear on the bottom edging. The top jewel is black and has been polished to bring back a gorgeous shine. The barrel is stamped with, "Geo. S. Parker Vacumatic Made in U.S.A. with date code 3, for 1943, in the 4th quarter". The transparency of the barrel is near water-clear - one can easily be seen through the barrel, albeit with minor ambering. The blind cap securely fits. There are no monograms or personalizations on either the cap or barrel.

The Vacumatic Filling System has been restored and now works great, typically in my tests with water about 9-12 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly and now operates flawlessly.

The Parker NIB is a 14K gold Split Arrow NIB date code 3 for 1943 which makes the nib a match to the rest of the pen. The actual writing portion of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .68mm when measured with digital calipers and writes very smoothly. When writing a sample, this NIB writes with a fine to broad line/stroke. The fine stroke measures .54mm with light pressure and the broad line/stroke measures .95mm when measured with digital calipers under medium to firm pressure. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Montblanc Blue Ink. Again, it is a very smooth writing nib.

This Vintage Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen has some great features like the Mint Blue Diamond Clip, great transparent barrel, and smooth writing nib. The lower edge wear on the cap banding puts this Parker Vac in Very Fine Condition overwise it would be in excellent condition. It is ready to write or just add to your writing arsenal collection.
