Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Beautifully Restored 1945 Parker Silver Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen in the Major Size. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Nickel Plate Blue Diamond Clip, Nickel Plated Chevron Cap Banding, and 14K NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the material of fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is a major size that measures 5 1/8" in length capped and 6" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the split arrow nickel plated blue diamond clip and the chevron cap banding that is in perfect condition, no brassing. The top jewel is black and has been polished to bring back a gorgeous shine. The barrel is clearly and crisply stamped with, "Geo. S. Parker Vacumatic Made in U.S.A. with date code 5, for 1945, in the third quarter". The transparency of the barrel marvelous - it is clear with only mild ambering. The blind cap securely fits. There are no monograms or personalizations to the cap or barrel. There is a "collector variant alert" on the this Parker Vacumatic; see image 6 - the barrel is seamed plastic. Known only from 1945 (and maybe 1946) are 3rd gen striped pens with seamed plastic, with a distinct line indicating wrapped celluloid. Possibly an experiment by Parker. Fountain Pens are found with 1) seamed cap, 2) with a seamed barrel and 3) seamed cap and barrel. This particular Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen has the seamed barrel. This is a marvelous example with an interesting feature that collector do not often witness.

The Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 7-8 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly and now operates flawlessly.

The Parker NIB is a 14K gold split arrow NIB. The actual writing portion of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .67mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample, this NIB writes with a fine to double broad stroke. The writing sample provided, the fine line measures at .52mm with digital calipers under normal pressure and the double broad stroke measures 1.36mm when measured with digital calipers under medium to firm pressure. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is a Vintage Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen displays a vibrant Silver Pearl color and the barrel transparency is fantastic. I grade this Parker Vac in Near Mint Condition and is in ready to write condition or just add to writing arsenal collection.
