Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1951 Parker 51 Aerometric Fountain Pen in the Navy Grey Color. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and now is in superb writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, collector, breather tube, and hood. Replaced the old glass ply sac with a new sac. I have hand-cleaned the cap and arrow clip, clutch ring, and 14K Parker nib. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel and hood to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the material of the fountain pen. This Parker 51 is Full Size and measures 5 3/8" capped and 5 7/8" posted. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel.

This fountain pen cap, barrel, and hood are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The cap has no dings or dents. The cap has the Feather Arrow Clip that displays no wear. The cap has the Lustraloy type with Parker stamped just above the cap lip under the clip. The cap is clearly stamped with, "PARKER" just above the lip of the cap. The barrel is stamped lightly, "Made in U.S.A. and 51 date code for 1951".

This Parker 51 has the Aerometric Filling System that has been rebuilt. The internal parts have been cleaned, a new Play-Glass sac installed, and tested the filling mechanism with water and filled as it should. The filling system, typically in my tests with water, will fill nearly full in roughly 3-5 presses.

The Parker NIB is a 14K fine and writes smoothly! The actual writing portion (iridium) of the 14K Parker NIB has a fine point measuring roughly .49mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with smooth, fine to medium line. In the writing sample, the fine line measures .45mm on the down and upward strokes and .63mm on the horizontal strokes when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Montblanc Blue Ink. Again, this is a smooth writing nib.

This Parker 51 in Navy Grey is gorgeous and the restoration came out wonderfully. I would consider this Parker to be in Excellent+ Condition - it is a very clean example. It is certainly ready to write with or just add to your writing arsenal collection.
