Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this spectacular 1999 Parker Centennial Duofold Limited Edition 517/1888 CP5 "Modern" Sterling Silver Fountain Pen fitted with an 18K Fine (.57mm) gold nib. This fountain pen has been inked but gently used. I have cleaned the internals of this pen and have it back in fine operating condition.

This Limited Edition Fountain Pen is the fifth limited edition from Classic Pens (CP) and is the CP5 series known as the "MODERN" pattern (there is also a Vintage model as well). The Modern example has a streamlined design whereas the Vintage example is a Flattop design. The work of this fountain pen series was in cooperation between Classic Pens, Parker and Murelli and this fountain pen is an official Parker Limited Edition. The series was launched in 1999 and remembers the vintage Parker Duofolds of the past. The CP5 cap band is laser engraved with the following, "Parker and its logo, CP5, Lambrou & Brown logo, as well as the limited edition number 517 of 1888". A modern engraving machine was used exclusively to produce the patterns of the CP5 pens.

This Parker Centennial Duofold CP5 displays a beautiful Sterling Silver fishnet pattern with a 23K Gold Electroplated Clip fitted with a solid 18K/750 gold nib. The cap is always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap and barrel have absolutely no damage, dents, or dings to the finish. This fountain pen has been inked and has a fabulous smooth writing fine nib. This Fountain Pen measures 5 3/8" inches capped and 6 3/4" posted. This CP5 is quite a heavy pen weighing 2.54 ounces, you know you have a pen in your hand with this example.

This writing instrument is a Parker CP5  Centennial Duofold Fountain Pen and is a Limited Edition 517 of 1888. The cap banding is Sterling Silver and stamped, "PARKER LB (Lambrou & Brown logo) CP5, STERLING SILVER 925 and 0517 of 1888". The lower portion of the barrel is stamped with, "MADE IN U.K. PARKER and its Logo". This Parker has the Ink Converter Filling system and works as it was designed to - I tested the ink converter with water and works perfectly. Or one can use Parker ink cartridges.

This Parker comes with an 18K split arrow nib. The fountain pen would have originally would have come with a Parker "Ribbon" nib which is not difficult to source should you want a proper match - this is how it came to me, with the Parker 18K arrow nib. The nib is marked 18K PARKER 750 and has a Fine point measuring .57mm when measuring with digital calipers. This Parker 18K/750 Fine Nib writes with a smooth stroke ranging from a Fine (.57mm) to a Medium (.88mm) line variation. The pen was dipped in Parker Blue ink to perform the writing sample.

This Parker Duofold CP5 Modern Fountain Pen does not have the original box or documentation - this is just the Fountain Pen we are selling.

This Parker Duofold CP5 Limited Edition Fountain Pen is a very scarce example and certainly a treasured writing instrument for one's collection. I would consider this Parker Duofold to be in Excellent+ Condition. This is clearly a work of art on a fountain pen and certainly would make for a marvelous addition to your writing arsenal collection.
