Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1964 Parker VP Fountain Pen in Grey with Lustraloy Cap fitted with a 14K Accountant #62 Nib. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and is now in great writing condition.

NOTE: VP, in this case of the Parker pen, stands for "Very Personal". The Parker VP was in production from 1962 to 1964. The ink converter is very delicate and known to crack. This ink converter is in perfect working condition without any cracks.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, and breather tube. I replaced the old glass-ply sac with a new, properly sized one. I have hand-cleaned the cap and arrow clip, clutch ring, 14K Parker nib, and the Parker VP ink converter. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel bringing back the vibrancy of the fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Parker VP measures 5 3/8" capped and 5 7/8" posted. The Pencil measures There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel.

This fountain pen cap, barrel, and hood are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The cap has the gold-filled Feather Arrow Clip that displays no wear/brassing. The cap is a Lustraloy type with no denting or dings with a frosty Lustraloy finish on the cap. The cap is stamped with, "PARKER VP MADE IN U.S.A. with Parker Logo" on the lip of the cap.

I added a new glass-ply sac to this Parker VP. I have tested the ink converter filling mechanism with water and it fills as it should. The filling system, typically in my tests with water, will fill full in roughly 4 to 5 presses.

The Parker NIB is 14K and writes with a triple extra-fine to double extra fine line! The nib is designated a "62" which is an Acountant nib point. The actual writing portion (iridium) of the 14K Parker NIB has a triple extra-fine point measuring roughly .28mm when measured with digital calipers. In the writing sample provided, the line measures between .25mm to .37mm when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink. This is a needle-point nib and writes as one would expect, very rigid with ultra-thin lines. These nibs were made to work for any writing angle and include a reference ring on the collar.

The Parker VP was only manufactured for two years and is considered uncommon. They were high-quality writing instruments but the ink converter filling unit was expensive to make and deemed cost prohibitive and in 1964 Parker was no longer manufacturing or marketing these pens. I would consider this Parker to be in Excellent+ Condition. The triple extra fine nib is very scarce and is a rare point on this pen. It is certainly ready to write with or add to your writing arsenal collection.
