Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1925 Parker Senior Luckycurve Duofold Fountain Pen in Red Hard Rubber. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and is now in excellent writing condition.

This is one pen from my collection. Note: 1925 was the last year the Parker Senior Big Red Duofold was made in Hard Rubber before moving on to the "permanite" material in 1926. The significance of this particular Parker Duofold, for those who do not know, is the material being red hard rubber and is the last year the Hard Rubber Duofolds were made. It is considered one of the "grail" fountain pens for Parker collectors. This was the end of an era for hard rubber Duofolds!

The fountain pen cap, barrel, and blind cap are in great condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The Cap has a gold-filled Parker Clip with PAT SEP 5 - 16 stamped and has been polished to shine bright with no wear. The raised (or some call it girdle) single cap band displays no gold fill wear. The barrel is stamped with, "DUOFOLD GEO. S. PARKER FOUNTAIN PEN JANESVILLE WIS. LUCKY CURVE U.S.A. PAT. -25-11".  There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel. The cap and barrel display wonderful color and are consistent between the cap and barrel. This Parker Duofold is the Senior Size and measures 5 1/2" capped and 6 1/2" posted.

This Duofold has a Button Filler mechanism and has been tested with water and fills as it should. The filling unit operates as it was originally intended to and smoothly.

The Parker NIB is 14K and stamped, "PARKER DUOFOLD PEN". The actual writing portion (iridium tip) of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .77mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a medium to broad stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the medium line measures at .64mm and will range to a broad line measuring .96mm with medium to firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Montblanc Blue Ink.

This Parker Duofold is of simple design, yet, very significant due to it being made of hard rubber material and the last year we would see hard rubber Duofolds being made. I would consider the condition of this Parker Duofold to be in Excellent Condition. It is a spectacular writing collectible and certainly a significant fountain pen that would make for a "grail" addition to one's writing arsenal collection.
