Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Mint Restored 1946 Parker Jet Black Celluloid Fountain Pen in the Major Size. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and is now in wonderful writing condition.

Collector Alert: The barrel is water clear and in Mint condition. After taking this pen apart, I never saw any ink on the nib, inside the barrel, or inside the cap. I don't think it has ever been inked except for my dip writing sample.

I have cleaned the feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. I hand-polished the gold-filled Blue Diamond clip, gold-filled Chevron cap banding (///\\\), and 14K NIB. Additionally, I cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of the fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is a major size that measures 5 1/8" in length capped and 6" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the split arrow gold-filled Blue diamond clip and is in perfect condition with no wear. The chevron cap banding is in perfect condition, also with no wear. The top jewel is black and has been polished to bring back a gorgeous shine. The barrel is clearly stamped with, "Geo. S. Parker Vacumatic Made in U.S.A. with date code 6, for 1946, in the 2nd quarter". The transparency of the barrel is water clear and how it looked the day it left the factory. The blind cap securely fits. There are no monograms or personalizations on the cap or barrel.

The Vacumatic Filling System works great! Typically in my tests with water about 7-8 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly and now operates flawlessly.

The Parker NIB is a 14K gold Split Arrow NIB with a 1946 date code making it a match to the barrel. The actual writing portion of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .62mm when measured with digital calipers and writes smoothly. When writing a sample, this NIB writes with an extra-fine to medium stroke. The extra-fine line/stroke measures at .43mm with light pressure and the medium line/stroke measures .89mm when measured with digital calipers under medium to firm pressure. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

This is a Vintage Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen that displays a perfect Jet Black color with water clear barrel, and bright gold-filled trim just like the day it left the factory. I grade this Parker Vac in Mint Condition. It is ready to write with or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
