Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1923 Parker Junior Duofold Fountain Pen in Red Hard Rubber. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and now is in wonderful writing condition.

This is one pen from my personal collection. The pen is in the condition when I purchased it over 8 years ago.

The significance of this particular Parker Duofold Jr, for those who do not know, is the material being red hard rubber and having the large imprint. It also has the "griddle" gold-filled cap banding. In addition, it is an early circa 1922-23 production year fountain pen and is considered one of the "grail" fountain pens for Parker collectors.

The fountain pen cap, barrel, and blind cap are in great condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The Cap has a Gold Filled Parker Clip with PAT SEP 5 - 16 stamped and has been polished to shine bright with no signs of wear. The raised single cap band does not display any wear. The barrel is clearly and crisply stamped with, Large DUOFOLD JRimprint along with "GEO. S. PARKER FOUNTAIN PEN JANESVILLE WIS. U.S.A. LUCKY CURVE PAT. 1-9-94 6-28-98 1-2-05 6-6-05 4-25-11". There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel. The cap and barrel display absolutely wonderful color but if I had to say the area under of the cap p is maybe a shade darker compared to the rest of the barrel - it is really tough to notice it in the images. This Parker Duofold is the Junior Size and measures 4 5/8" capped and 5 5/8" posted.

This Duofold has a Button Filler mechanism and has been tested with water and fills as it should. The filling unit operates as it was originally intended to and smoothly.

The Parker NIB is 14K and stamped, "PARKER DUOFOLD PEN". The actual writing portion (iridium tip) of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .76mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine to medium stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the fine line measures at .58mm, and the medium line measures at .78mm with medium to firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Blue Ink.

This is Parker Duofold is of simple design, yet, very significant due to the hard rubber material and large imprint. I would consider the condition of this Parker Duofold to be in Excellent to Excellent+ Condition. It is a spectacular writing collectible and certainly a significant fountain pen that would make for a "holy grail" addition to one's writing arsenal collection.
