Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1923 Parker Senior Duofold Fountain Pen in Black Chased Hard Rubber with the Rare Bandless Cap.

This is one pen from my personal collection. The pen is in the condition when I purchased it over 8 years ago. The condition is Near Mint to Mint condition.

The significance of this particular Parker Duofold, for those who do not know, is the absence of any cap banding. In addition, it is an early circa 1923 production year fountain pen and considered one of the "holy grail" fountain pens for Parker collectors.

The fountain pen cap, barrel, and blind cap are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The Cap has a Gold Filled Parker Clip with PAT SEP 5 - 16 stamped and has been polished to shine brightly with absolutely no brassing. The barrel is clearly and crisply stamped with, Large DUOFOLD imprint along with "GEO. S. PARKER FOUNTAIN PEN JANESVILLE WIS. U.S.A. LUCKY CURVE PAT JAN 03-05. APR. 11-05 APR. 25-12 JUN. 4-12". The blind cap has the appropriately marked 6 1/2 imprint. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel. The cap and barrel display absolutely wonderful deep black color. This Parker Duofold is the Senior Size and measures 5 1/2" capped and 6 1/2" posted.

I have added a new rubber sac to this Duofold. This Duofold has a Button Filler mechanism and has been tested with water and fills as it should. The filling unit operates as it was originally intended to and smoothly.

The Parker NIB is 14K and stamped, "PARKER DUOFOLD PEN". The actual writing portion (iridium tip) of the 14K Parker NIB has a broad point measuring roughly 1.13mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a medium to broad stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the medium line measures at .72mm and the broad line measures at 1.12mm with medium to firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

NOTE: The Nib on this Duofold writes "buttery smooth". It is truly amazing writing experience. I have handled 1000s of pens and the smoothness this nib creates when writing has to rank in the top 5-10 pens that I have ever handled.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is Parker Duofold is of simple design, yet, very significant due to the bandless cap and one of the first years it was produced. I would consider the condition of this Parker Duofold to be in Near Mint and boarding on Mint Condition. It is a spectacular writing collectible and certainly a significant fountain pen that would make for a "holy grail" addition to one's writing arsenal collection.
