Description

For your consideration we are offering for sale this Beautiful 1941 Parker Double Jewel Golden Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen with Jeweler's Cap Band in restored condition. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, cap and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Split Arrow Clip, Wide Coin Stack Jeweler's Band and 14K 2-Tone Parker U.S.A. NIB. Buffed and Polished the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and now it shines. This Parker Vacumatic is a major which measures 5 3/8" in length capped and 6 1/4" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The cap has the split arrow gold filled clip and the jeweler's cap band displays cartouche with a rich gold filled color with no brassing. The top & bottom jewels are black and look great. The barrel is clearly and crisply stamped with, "Geo. S. Parker Vacumatic Made in U.S.A. with date code 1 in the fourth quarter". The transparency of the barrel is fantastic and a person can easily see through the barrel. The blind cap securely fits. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 6 to 8 presses to fill 7/8 full.

The Parker NIB is a Platinum Coated and gold split arrow NIB. The two-tone NIB coating displays excellent, with only minor plating loss. The 14K Parker NIB has a fine point measuring roughly .49mm, measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with an extra fine line to a medium line, which is relatively smooth for such a fine point NIB. In the writing sample provided, the thinnest line measures at .37mm and the medium line measured with digital calipers is .85mm. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that is listed for sale. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

The so-called Jeweler's cap-band Vacs are relatively uncommon variants produced from 1939-1941. Factory original, the key finding is an extra-wide lined cap band. This one is the 2nd size pen with same contour used for the Major and Slender Maxima of that era, though all pens found with this cap-band have Major nib. This pen and the 1st Size pen (Senior Maxima) to share the larger of the two Jeweler's Band forms found in this variant cluster. The cap-band has a one visible tiny ('pin') dings near the cartouche and the cartouche has the very faint initials "GGH" engraved - I almost bet these would buff out very easily because they are so faint.

Overall, this is a beautiful vintage Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen in the Golden Pearl Celluloid that is a difficult to find variant in Excellent Condition. It is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
