Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Circa 1984-1997 Pelikan M400 (Old Style) Tortoise Brown Striped Fountain Pen with Box. This pen has been taken apart, cleaned, piston greased, put back together, and back in wonderful writing condition. I consider this pen in Near Mint/Mint Condition in the Pelikan Box.

The barrel and cap are gorgeous with beautiful barrel in the Tortoise Brown Striped color, polished with a high shine. There are absolutely no nicks, chips, cracks or repairs to this fountain pen. The cap of this fountain pen displays the gold plated clip and cap band. The cap is stamped with, "PELIKAN GERMANY". The cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel. This Pelikan M400 is the "Old Style" two chicks logo between 1984 to 1997 and was manufactured in Germany - this one is going to date between 1991 to 1997 because of the "Germany" imprint and not West Germany which was stopped being used in 1990. This Pelikan M605 measures 4 7/8" inches in length capped and 5 3/4" inches posted.

This Pelikan M400 features Gold plated trim to the cap and are all highly polished.

The Piston Filler works with such ease and perfectly in my tests with water.

The NIB is 14C - 585 solid gold extra-fine point measures at .43mm when I measured using a digital caliper. This Pelikan has fabulous barrel clarity and water clear. I have tested this Pelikan to perform a writing sample, which will write with an extra fine/fine line of .46mm on the horizontal strokes to 1.17mm on the widest stroke under medium to firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The nib is "springy" and great to write with. I used Montblanc Blue Ink when creating the writing sample.

This is a beautiful Pelikan M400 in Tortoise Brown Striped barrel and black cap is clean as a whistle. It is ready to write or add it to your writing arsenal collection. I would grade this pen in Near Mint to Mint condition. Certainly, this is a pen that you can cherish and pass down from generation to generation.
