Description

For your consideration we are offering for sale this Beautifully Restored 1939 Parker Streamlined Standard Vacumatic Gray Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen with Star Clip. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, cap and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the trim, Star Split Arrow Clip, 3 Ring Cap Banding and 14K 2-Tone NIB. Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, cap and striped jewels to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen material.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, teeth marks or repairs. The cap has the Split Arrow Feather clip with Star and the 3 white gold plate cap bands. There is only the slight amount of wear to the clip and that is only on the edge of the feathering portion of the clip - again very minor and only present it for clarity sake. The white gold filled cap bands are in excellent condition with no brassing / wear. The top and bottom jewels carry the same striped design as the barrel and cap and look great. The barrel imprint is crisp and reads, "Geo. S. Parker Parker Vacumatic Made in U.S.A. PAT with 9 date code and two dot for the 2nd quarter". The transparency of the barrel is very good; however, there is ambering. The cap fits securely to the barrel and the jeweled blind cap also securely fits. There are no monograms or personalizations on the cap or barrel. This Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen measures 5 3/8" in length capped and 6 1/4" posted.

This 1939 Parker Vacumatic has the correct speedline filling unit and it works smoothly and flawlessly. The Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 5 to 7 presses and it will fill to nearly 7/8 full.

The 14K Parker 2-Tone NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .64mm when measured with digital calipers. The NIB has the Golden two-tone arrow NIB and much of the Platinum plating is still intact. When creating the writing sample, the thinnest line measures at a fine (.48mm) stroke and flexes up to a (1.32mm) double broad stroke when measured with digital calipers. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that is listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

The significance of this Parker is that it is an Uncataloged variant made by Parker during the 1939 Vacumatic evolution time period. It is one of those Parker Vacumatics that you don't come across frequently and certainly a fabulous addition to the collection for those looking harder to find variants. This is in ready to write condition or just add to writing arsenal collection that I would grade as Excellent.
