Description

For your consideration we are offering for sale this Beautifully Restored 1940 Parker Debutante Vacumatic Gray Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen with Star Clip. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, cap and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the trim, Star Split Arrow Clip, Nickel Plated Cap Banding and 14K NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, cap and striped jewels to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the fountain pen material.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, teeth marks or repairs. The cap has the Split Arrow Feather clip with Star Nickel Plate cap bands. There is only the slight amount of wear to the backside of the tassel clip and that is only on the edge - again very minor and only present it for clarity sake. The white gold filled cap bands are in excellent condition with no brassing / wear. The bottom tassel has edge wear, again very minor. The top and bottom jewels are black and have been polished to great shine and look great. The barrel imprint is crisp and reads, "Geo. S. Parker Parker Vacumatic Made in U.S.A. PAT with 0 date code and three dots for the 1st quarter". The transparency of the barrel is excellent; however, there is ambering. The cap fits securely to the barrel and the jeweled blind cap also securely fits. There are no monograms or personalizations on the cap or barrel. This Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen measures 4 5/8" in length capped and 5 1/2" posted.

This 1940 Parker Vacumatic has the correct speedline filling unit and it works smoothly and flawlessly. The Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 5 to 6 presses and it will fill full.

The 14K Parker NIB has a fine point measuring roughly .55mm when measured with digital calipers. The NIB has the Split Arrow NIB and performs very well. When creating the writing sample, the thinnest line measures at an extra fine (.36mm) stroke and flexes up to a (1.28mm) double broad stroke when measured with digital calipers. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that is listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

It is one of those Parker Vacumatics that you don't come across frequently and certainly a fabulous addition to the collection for those looking harder to find variants. This is in ready to write condition or just add to writing arsenal collection that I would grade as Excellent.
