For your consideration, we are pleased to offer this 2002 Aurora Leonardo da Vinci Limited Edition Fountain Pen, number 346 of 1,919 pieces, fitted with an 18K gold Medium nib. This writing instrument remains in Mint Condition, complete with its original boxes, Aurora literature, and the accompanying glass paperweight.
Created by Aurora in tribute to one of history’s greatest visionaries, the Leonardo da Vinci Limited Edition celebrates the perfect union of art, science, and writing—a fitting homage to the Renaissance master who defined innovation itself.
A masterpiece of design and craftsmanship, the Leonardo embodies both technical precision and timeless beauty. Limited to just 1,919 pieces worldwide—a number honoring Aurora’s founding year—this example is number 346, engraved on the reverse of the cap.
The pen features a refined Bordeaux resin barrel complemented by a gold-plated cap, richly engraved and filled with lacquer to depict motifs inspired by Leonardo’s Codex on the Flight of Birds. The result is a stunning fusion of artistry and engineering—a pen that feels as intelligent as the man it honors.
The cap and barrel are in flawless condition, showing no cracks, nicks, scratches, or dents. The cap threads securely and smoothly, and the trim retains its perfect luster without any wear or brassing. Measuring 5 1/2" inches capped and 6 5/8" inches posted, and weighs 1.71 ounces, which offers a comfortable and confident feel in the hand.
Fitted with an 18K Aurora nib in Fine (stamped “18K”), the nib tip measures .58mm with digital calipers. This pen has never been inked or dip-tested, ensuring it remains in pristine, untouched condition for its next owner.
Aurora describes the filling mechanism as a lever-fill system, though in function it closely resembles a button-filler. When the blind cap is unscrewed, it reveals a toggle stem that pivots left to right, engaging and releasing the internal pressure bar to fill the pen. The mechanism has been tested with water and operates exactly as designed.
Note: The interior back panel of the presentation box shows several small areas of staining, likely from adhesive used in a previous attempt to reattach the satin insert to the wooden backing. Otherwise, the presentation set is in outstanding condition throughout.
The Aurora Leonardo da Vinci Limited Edition is a magnificent creation—its deep Bordeaux tones, intricate engravings, and impeccable build quality make it both a collector’s centerpiece and a symbol of Aurora’s enduring craftsmanship. A true celebration of genius, beautifully expressed through the art of writing.
