Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Circa 2003 Sailor 1911 in the Maiki-e Goldmix powder Fountain Pen fitted with a 21K Hard Medium nib. This Sailor is new in the box, never inked, and is signed by Master Urushi artist Mr Koushu Nishihara. I consider this fountain pen in Mint, Never Inked Condition!

NOTE: This Sailor 1911 Maki-e Fountain Pen is one of a limited edition of 20 issued by Allen Gross/Pens Plus. It displays a gold mix powder Maki-e made up of various shades of gold. The artwork on this pen is signed by Koushu Nishihara, one of Sailor’s Maki-e master artists. Nishihara helped create several Maki-e editions for Pens Plus back in the early 2000s, including Sailors, Stipulas, and Pelikan. It is signed on the back of the cap with Nishihara's signature and numbered 19/20 on the section. The 21k nib is designated a hard medium. The fountain pen has never been inked and considered new old stock.

The cap and barrel are in perfect condition with no cracks, nicks, scratches, or repairs. The pen is made of resin with a screw-on cap to the barrel. The cap is always securing tightly to the barrel. The gold-plated trim is perfect with no scratches or wear. The cap banding is stamped with, "SAILOR JAPAN FOUNDED 1911". The fountain pen measures 5 7/16" inches in length capped, and 6" inches posted. The pen weighs 24.7 grams with the ink converter included and measures 16mm around the cap banding which is the widest diameter area on the pen.

The Sailor nib is made of 21K gold and is designated Hard Medium nib point by the "H-M" stamp on the left shoulder of the nib. The nib iridium tipping measures .67mm when using digital calipers. I did not want to ink the pen only to keep it in Mint, New Old Stock condition for the next owner.

This Sailor comes fitted with the original Sailor ink converter, ink cartridges, and Sailor literature.

I would consider this Sailor 1911 Maki-e Fountain pen to be in Mint Condition. This is a very rare Sailor that would make for the high-cachet anchor in your rare Pelikan writing arsenal collection. Only 20 were ever made, this is your chance to own a piece of Pens Plus/Allen Gross/Koushu Nishihara history!
