For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Limited Edition Visconti Declaration of Independence Fountain Pen fitted with a 23K 950 Palladium DreamTouch Medium Two-Tone Nib. This Visconti fountain pen has never seen ink and is considered in New Old Stock Mint Condition, in its Presentation case and the documentation/warranty card.
NOTE: July 4, 1776, marks a pivotal moment in history. On this day, the foundation of a remarkable nation was laid, asserting the rights of free and independent individuals. Ratified by the Continental Congress, the Declaration of Independence proclaimed that the thirteen American colonies, then in conflict with Great Britain, had become independent states, breaking free from the British Empire.
Created by Thomas Jefferson and endorsed by 56 Congress members in ink, it’s appropriate for Visconti to honor this occasion with a remarkable limited edition fountain pen. The brand employs its refined scrimshaw technique to reproduce the entire text of the Declaration of Independence on the pen’s ivory resin body. The inscription is sufficiently sized for readability, and a specially engraved viewing glass is provided to enhance the intricate features.
A replica of John Trumbull's painting, ‘Declaration of Independence,’ is featured on the barrel. The intricate bands are made of aged sterling silver, including the blind cap that is engraved with an American bald eagle. A delightful surprise awaits inside the pen: the end of the plunger mechanism resembles the Liberty Bell, a renowned symbol of American independence. This fountain pen boasts the exceptional Visconti Dreamtouch 23K palladium nib, known for its flexibility and responsiveness. Limited to just 776 pieces worldwide, the pen comes in a unique collector’s box crafted from American walnut, featuring a leather inset that is embossed with the 56 signatures from the declaration.
This Visconti Fountain Pen is in uninked, mint condition with no wear, dings, dents, scratching, or repairs. The pen is made of natural resin in the ivory color. The trim is sterling silver (except for the clip). The cap type is a "threaded" type that secures to the barrel every time. This fountain pen measures 6 1/8" capped, has a diameter of 18.22mm around the cap banding, and weighs 2.53 ounces. The pen does not post.
This fountain pen is a Limited Edition 168 of 776 and is marked on the end of the barrel as seen in the photos.
The nib is marked Visconti with 23K PD 950 Medium Two-Tone Nib. The nib has a Medium point measuring .82mm when using digital calipers. I have never inked this pen and wanted to keep it in uninked, New Old Stock condition for the next owner.
This Visconti uses the patented "power-fill" plunger filling system. I tested it with water and fills as it was designed. Note the Liberty Bell plunger rod end.
The Fountain Pen comes with the original display box that you see in the images, the Visconti Declaration of Independence Literature, eyeglass, original plastic pen sleeve, and the Visconti Warranty Card, all of which are in excellent condition.
The workmanship on this fountain pen is a sight to behold. It is a spectacular example and a scarce writing instrument that makes a statement in one's Visconti collection! Again, this one is in Mint, Never Inked condition!
