For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1932 Waterman 52V Persian Celluloid Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap. Cleaned and polished the outside of the cap and barrel. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new, properly sized, silicone sac. Hand polished the 18K Gold Filled Cap Banding, Gold Filled Waterman Clip, Gold Filled Lever Box Assembly along with the Waterman 14K #2 NIB.

This fountain pen is made from celluloid in what is known as Persian. The coloring on the cap is near perfect with no discoloration. The barrel is actually in very good condition in terms of color but displays some discoloration - I would give it a 7 out of 10, I have seen much worst in terms of discoloration and this celluloid color/discoloration is quite common. The barrel has a clean and crisp imprint at the center of the barrel that reads, "WATERMAN'S MADE IN USA IDEAL GLOBE FOUNTAIN PEN". The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. There are no monograms on the cap or barrel. There are no cracks, nicks, or repairs to the celluloid. This Waterman #52V measures 4 5/8" in length capped and 5 1/4" posted. The lever is crisp and clean with no wear. The Waterman Ideal Clip is perfect with no wear. The gold-filled cap banding does not display any wear or brassing as well.

The lever and box assembly have been cleaned and oiled. It works flawlessly and smoothly. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills wonderfully.

The NIB is the 14K #2 Waterman Ideal Nib. When measuring the actual iridium tip of the NIB, it measures at .74mm when measured with digital calipers, a medium point. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with a Medium line measuring roughly .62mm with very light pressure and flexes up to a Triple Broad stroke of 2.02mm with medium to firm pressure when measuring with digital calipers. The nib has excellent responsiveness and writes very smoothly. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.

This is vintage Waterman Persian 52V Fountain Pen is in ready to write condition. The Waterman Persian should grade in the Very Fine condition with only the minor barrel discoloration being the only compromise on this pen. This is a fantastic collector grade writing instrument to add to your writing arsenal collection!
