Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Circa 2005 Montblanc Meisterstuck LeGrand Solitaire 146 Citrine Lacquered Cap and Gold Plate Barrel Fountain Pen fitted with an 18K Medium smooth writing Nib. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and now is in superb writing condition.

The cap, barrel, and trim have a smooth gold-plated overlay and display most beautifully with no wear, dings, or dents. The cap displays a gorgeous Citrine lacquer finish. The Serial number is GZ1012018, GERMANY, and METAL2 is stamped on the side of the clip. The cap banding is stamped with, "MONTBLANC MEISTERSTUCK".

The cap and barrel of this fountain pen are in excellent condition, without any chips, cracks, repairs, dings, or dents, and the cap always attaches securely to the barrel. It features a gold plate overlay, which shows no signs of gold plate loss, no scratching, and the ink-view window is crystal clear. The pen has no monograms or personalizations on the cap or barrel. The fountain pen measures 5 3/4" in length when capped, 6 3/8" when posted, and weighs 1.71 ounces.

I removed the filling system, cleaned the internal components, and greased the piston seal. I also tested the filling mechanism with water and it fills correctly. The Piston Filling System is functioning properly and works smoothly.

The Montblanc NIB is an 18K/750 Bi-Color NIB that writes smoothly. The 18K Montblanc NIB writes with a very smooth "wet" line. The nib has a Medium point measuring roughly .85mm when measured with digital calipers. When creating a writing sample, the NIB writes with a medium stroke/line. The writing sample provided in the image has a stroke range measuring from .72mm to .89mm with medium to firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Montblanc Blue-Black Ink.

Obtaining one of these Montblanc 146 Cirtine lacquered and gold-plated fountain pens in today's market can be quite challenging. This writing instrument is in exceptional condition and would easily be graded as Near Min to Mint condition. Not only does it look fantastic, but it also writes incredibly well, making it a valuable addition to any writing arsenal collection.

Note: The previous owner purchased this fountain pen in September 2005 based on his records.
