Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Never Inked Circa 2009 Limited Edition Sailor King of Pen (KOP) Maki-e Silver Cosmos Fountain Pen fitted with a 21K Gold Medium Nib. This Fountain Pen has never been inked and I consider it in Mint, New Old Stock Condition.

The King of Pen is Sailor's oversized fountain pen, designed to represent Sailor’s technology, quality, and excellent writing over the past 100 years. This pen features one of the finest nibs available worldwide. Its 21K solid gold nib ensures a top-quality and smooth writing experience. This one is a masterpiece featuring a black urushi lacquer resin barrel and cap adorned with ribbons of white gold power and vibrant inlaid raden that was meticulously crafted.

This Sailor pen is steeped in deep tradition, reflecting the art of maki-e. The maki-e design flows from top to bottom in a white-gold wave, symbolizing the connection between the past and the future. The silver or white-gold sparkling broad stripes crossing the center of the design pay homage to the famous Japanese festival known as Tanabata, which celebrates love and happiness. According to legend, the two celestial lovers—the Cowherd star (Altair) and the Weaver star (Vega)—are separated by the Milky Way River. During Tanabata, these two stars are said to reunite. The maki-e design on this pen features a spiral path of silver and gold, representing the Milky Way River that separates the stars. This motif strengthens and symbolizes the eternal bond of love between the two stars.

The cap and barrel are in perfect condition with no cracks, nicks, scratches, or repairs. The cap is always securing tightly to the barrel via the threading. The rhodium-plated trim is in perfect condition with no scratches or wear. The fountain pen measures 6" inches in length capped, 6 5/8" inches posted, 17.90mm in diameter at the widest point, and weighs 1.30 ounces.

The Nib is a 21K/875 Mono-Colored 21K White gold and marked, "1911, Sailor Anchor logo, 21K, 875, Sailor, Japan". Stamped on the shoulder of the NIB is the letter, "M" for a Medium nib point. The actual tipping measures .76mm when measured with digital calipers. This fountain pen has never been inked and I wanted to keep it this way for the new owner.

The Sailor uses an ink converter to fill the pen. It will also accept ink cartridges. I have tested it with water and it works as it was designed.

This Sailor comes with the original wooden box, Sailor Ink, and Sailor Literature. The box is in mint condition, like the pen.

Here's your chance to own this beautiful Sailor King of Pen Silver Cosmos and add it to your writing arsenal collection! These are very scarce to find and this one has never been inked. I consider it to be in Mint, New ld Stock Condition!
