MONTEGRAPPA VATICAN 2000 PAPAL STERLING LIMITED EDITION FOUNTAIN PEN BOX/PAPERS NEVER INKED

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Montegrappa Vatican 2000 Papal Limited Edition 226 of 2000 Fountain Pen fitted with an 18K Medium nib. This fountain pen is in Mint, Never Inked Condition - considered New Old Stock with all the original boxes and documentation/literature.

This is the Vatican 2000 Papal Fountain Pen made by Montegrappa. The pen is a limited edition fountain pen in sterling silver 925, accompanied by the original box and documentation. The Limited Edition number is 0226/2000 and is engraved into the cap next to the clip, as seen in image 8. The Papal Pen is a Symbolic representation of the past two millennia, this limited edition uses fine engravings to celebrate the calendar leading to the year 2000. The barrel and cap are manufactured with extremely detailed engravings into the sterling silver. Through the engraved images the fountain pen tells of the values and the foundations of the Church. The Holy Trinity is depicted on the body of the pen, surrounded by a multitude of angels. The central part of the cap is an exclusive image of Pope John Paul II in front of the Holy Door during the opening ceremony of the Jubilee of the year 2000. The inscription in Latin reads, "PER CHRISTVM - IN SPIRITV SANCTO - AD DEVM PATREM",  from the apostolic letter "Incarnationis Mysterum". On the lower part of the cap is the signature of Holy Father JOANNES PAULUS II and the seal of the Jubilee. A light rotation of the cap reveals the unmistakable outline of St. Peter's Cathedral. This Sterling Silver Vatican Papal Pen is manufactured by combining the latest technology with remarkable hand engraving artist details. The fountain pen comes fitted with a bi-color platinum plated 18K gold nib in a Medium (.70mm) iridium point. The Vatican symbol, St. Peter's keys, are finely engraved on the nib. The fountain pens come with a piston filling system, a large capacity barrel, and a hand-turned ebonite feed. 

The pen is in perfect condition with it never being inked The cap and barrel have an extremely detailed Sterling Silver overlay that is in perfect condition with no cracks, nicks, scratches, dings, dents, or repairs. The cap is always securing tightly to the barrel. The Sterling trim is hallmarked with,  "925, *1055VI, MONTEGRAPPA, ITALY". The cap is marked with the limited edition number 0226/2000. This fountain pen measures 5 5/8" inches capped and 7" inches posted. The pen weighs 1.91 ounces, which is a good weight in the hand.

The fountain pen uses a piston filling system. I have tested the piston filler with water and it works as it was designed to. 

The 18K Gold nib is designated "MEDIUM" and displays "18K/750, MONTEGRAPPA, M hallmarks" on the nib. The iridium tipping measures .70mm when measuring with digital calipers, which falls into the range of Medium the nib is designated. This fountain pen has never been inked and wanted to leave it that way for the next collector.
